Course Sequence - Honours BA in French-English translation

Millions of words are translated in Ottawa every week, which explains why many of the region’s employers are eager to host our students and hire our graduates. The School of Translation and Interpretation and its teaching staff are internationally recognized for excellence in both teaching and research. The curriculum includes practical and theoretical seminars and courses in writing, editing, terminology and computer-assisted translation, providing students with comprehensive professional training in general, specialized and technical translation. With a degree from the School, students readily qualify for many well-paid positions in an industry where demand for employees is high.

The School also offers an introductory course in interpretation, as well as courses in translation into and out of Spanish, which aim to meet some of the needs generated by the globalization of business.

The Minor in Translation (which must be combined with another program) introduces students to professional translation into their dominant language. The Honours with Specialization includes a co-operative education option, which combines academic studies with experience in the workplace.
