Course Sequence - Honours BA in Theatre

Welcome to centre stage! From practice to theory, from performance to reception, the Department of Theatre offers training in most aspects of theatre and prepares students for a career of creative expression and intellectual stimulation. We teach acting, directing, playwriting, arts administration, dramaturgy, theatre history, production, technical theatre and design as well as theory and aesthetics. When it comes to practice, opportunities abound: the Department produces up to twenty-five original productions a season.

UNDERGRADUATE STUDIES

The Theatre program at the University of Ottawa leads to an honours bachelor’s degree, which requires the equivalent of four years of university studies and 120 credits (40 courses).

HONOURS BA IN THEATRE – 120 CREDITS (4 YEARS)

1 This course has variable themes.  Students may take this course twice
2 Students who wish to audition for the courses required by the Introduction to Acting profile should register for THE2122 in their second year.
3 A practical course in theatre production involving substantial responsibilities in four areas of theatrical practice. Specific requirements regarding procedures for the allocation, execution and evaluation of these production assignments may be obtained from the Department. Completion of requirements for the course normally takes more than one session.
