Profiles from the Arctic is a web-documentary series that profiles people involved in science across the Canadian high Arctic.
Spending two and a half weeks at the Polar Continental Shelf Program (the PCSP), in Resolute Bay, Nunavut, we interviewed scientists, students, advisers, technicians, chefs, and staff. We discussed their research, their field stories from working and living in the Arctic, and the value of conducting research in such a challenging environment.
As the Arctic warms, there is growing interest in developing resources and introducing economic activity. Yet questions remain unanswered about how landscapes and animals across the North will respond. Research is helping to answer those questions, but at a pace that many feel, is too slow.
