Research highlights

The Hispanic Linguistics Symposium was held on campus 17-20 October 2013. The Symposium hosted 150 delegates from around the world and there were 88 oral presentations, 30 poster presentations and 4 keynote addresses. The quality of scholarship was extremely high and brought a lot of international exposure to the Spanish program.

The Second Symposium of the Arab Canadian Studies Research Group (ACANS) was held in March 2014 in collaboration with York University. The symposium (funded by SSHRC) hosted 25 participants from across Canada including keynote speakers Dr. Mona Nemer, Vice-President Research (University of Ottawa) and Professor Kamal Al-Solaylee (Ryerson University).

Professor Jorge Carlos Guerrero was awarded the Canadian Association of Hispanists Prize of the Best Academic Book in Hispanic Literature published between 2010 - 2012 for his book Cartografías Regionales del Cono Sur.
