A.J. Peter Froehlich

Biography

Peter Froehlich has worked as a director, translator, playwright and actor in theatres across Canada, including the Stratford Festival, the National Arts Centre, Centaur, Magnus, Neptune, Alberta Theatre Projects, the Citadel, the Mulgrave Road Theatre Company, Axis Mime Theatre, The Great Canadian Theatre Company, Toronto Free Theatre, Tarragon and Theatre Passe-Muraille.

Several of his productions including MerzSneeze Poems and the Like, Hank WilliamsThe Show He Never GaveThe Beaten Track with Theatre Beyond Words, have toured internationally. He also taught and directed for the School for the Contemporary Arts at Simon Fraser University in Vancouver and at the National Theatre School of Canada in Montreal.

Awards and distinctions

  • Simpl was nominated for six Dora Awards including Best New Play and Outstanding Production.
  • Staller's Farm was nominated for two Doras including Best Director.
  • Awarded the 2005 Lifetime Achievement Award by the National Capital Critic's Circle.
