The Institute in full evolution

Posted on Wednesday, October 23, 2019

The year 2019 marks an period of change for the Institute. These changes are reflected in:

  • The name of Institute has changed to better reflect the mission. We are now the Institute of Indigenous Research and Studies (IIRS).
  • The nomination of a new Director: Prof. Brenda Macdougall, Associate Professor in the Department of Geography.
  • The hiring of two new professors: Prof. Veldon Coburn began his term in September. Prof. Pierrot Ross-Tremblay will join the IIRS in January 2020.

This new direction has been the subject of long-term work undertaken by Tim Stanley during his tenure as Director of the Institute and for which we are grateful.
