Visiting Researcher from February 1st to July 31st, 2019
Alex Norman is a visiting doctoral researcher from the University of Leeds, United Kingdom. His PhD analyses the integration of Inuit Qaujimajatuqangit within the framework of the Nunavut Legislative Assembly. Using a constructivist approach on political representation, he is seeking to discuss the assembly as a parliament as a representation of the territory and of Inuit people. His research discusses the notion on what does it mean to be Indigenous, either at an individual and a community level. His research interests are around Parliament, political representation, identity and indigeneity and relations between the public and institutions.
