Elizabeth Dubois


Elizabeth Dubois completed her doctorate at the University of Oxford’s Internet Institute and joined the University of Ottawa faculty in 2016. Her research is designed to understand how technology may be leveraged to increase democratic accountability and engagement. Elizabeth also has professional experience working on Parliament Hill and with NGOs.

Ongoing work:

  • Young Voters, an examination of the political information preferences and practices in a digital media system
  • Opinion Leaders, Bots and Other Political Influencers,an investigation into the everyday political chat of average citizens (and sometimes the bots they create) and their impact on the political information environment
  • Social Media Data Stewardship, in collaboration with the Social Media Lab (Ryerson University), a study of the impact of data visualization on citizen’s perception of data use by companies, governments and researchers
