Application Form Journalism Program For students from uOttawa

Students registered in the Honours Bachelor in Digital Journalism or Honours Bachelor in Public Relations at the University of Ottawa who have a CGPA of 6.0 may apply for a transfer to the Journalism program or the Public Relations program at Algonquin College using the following procedure:

  1. Students must fill out the Algonquin College Application Form for Students from the University of Ottawa available at the Undergraduate Office of the Faculty of Arts, at 60 University, Simard Hall, Room 128. Students must then submit the form to the Undergraduate Office of the Faculty of Arts, at the latest on January 10th or next business day.
  1. There are no fees required for the request to transfer to the Diploma of Journalism program or the Diploma in Public Relations at Algonquin College when the above procedure (point 1) is followed.
  1. Algonquin College will provide students with a response to their request, at the latest June 1st  or next working day.  
  1. The University of Ottawa will provide final transcripts to Algonquin College.

NOTE: The Algonquin College Application Form for Students from the University of Ottawa may be used only for those seeking transfer to the Diploma in Journalism or the Diploma in Public Relations programs offered at Algonquin College. Admission to all other programs will require a formal application for admission via ontariocolleges.ca/en

 

Digital Journalism - First route

Digital Journalism (First Route)

Register for the Honours bachelor's degree at the University and, after completing 60 credits (four semesters), transfer to Algonquin College to complete the diploma program in journalism. Because of space limitations at Algonquin, the University can only accept 25 students in this stream. In addition, upon completion of 60 credits at the University of Ottawa, you must have a cumulative grade point average of at least 6.0/10 (70%) to be admitted to Algonquin College. At the end of 4 years most students have both an Honours BA and a College Diploma!

Digital Journalism - Second route

Digital Journalism (Second Route)

Start by completing two years and obtain the Diploma in Journalism at Algonquin College (a minimum average of 3.0 is required) and then transfer to Honours Bachelor in Digital Journalism the University of Ottawa to do four more semesters (60 credits). The University has no registration limits in this stream. At the end of 4 years most students have both an Honours BA and a College Diploma!
