Preface is an exhibition which showcases work from the graduating class of 2014, from the University of Ottawa’s Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) program. In literary terms, a preface not only acts as a preliminary statement, but also sets a purpose or intention for what is to follow. Within the context of this graduating class, the exhibition acts as an introduction to the work of 40 emerging artists, and the beginning of their artistic careers.
Consisting of work created by so many different artists, the exhibition inherently reflects the diversity present within the group, comprised of works within the fields of drawing, painting, sculpture, photography, multimedia, installation, and performance. Each artist presents work created within the final year in the program, the refined result of four years of growth and development, exploration and experimentation.
