Professor France Martineau was awarded the Ordre des francophones d'Amérique

Congratulations to France Martineau, Professor in the Département de français and holder of the Research Chair in Borders, Networks and Contacts in French America and Founding Director of the Polyphonies du français Laboratory, for being awarded the Ordre des francophones d'Amérique at a ceremony that took place this Wednesday, November 28 in Quebec City.

The Ordre des francophones d'Amérique is an honor awarded annually since 1978 by the Conseil supérieur de la langue française. This distinction recognizes the merits of people who have dedicated themselves or who are dedicated to the maintenance and development of the French language in America, or who have given their support to the growth of life in French on the American continent.

It is for the innovative aspect of her work on French language varieties in North America, for her mastery of several domains of language sciences and for her contribution to the reputation of the University of Ottawa’s centers of linguistic studies that the Conseil supérieur de la langue française awards her the Ordre des francophones d'Amérique.
