Biography

In the research field, my interests include 18th- and 19th-century British literature; narrative and reception theory; mythology and folklore; Gothic literature; film; and representations of law, justice, and execution. On the creative writing side, I publish fantasy and weird fiction. I also run a magazine that features fantasy, science fiction, and weird fiction/horror, and have participated as a panellist at speculative fiction conferences around the world. When not writing and teaching, I work as an editor for national and international organizations.
