At the heart of Iceland’s glaciers

Set in Iceland this 10 day course will take you from the surface of snowy glaciers down to their icy interior and from their debris covered terminus to calving lakes and icebergs. The focus of this field course is the study of glaciers: their formation, processes, landforms and their response to climate change. Optional in all of our programs. Open to other departments, faculties, universities.

GEG 4100 Glaciology (3 units)

Field study of the dynamics and hydrology of glaciers, and the role of glaciers in landform development. Review of the impacts of climate change on the cryosphere.

Course Component: Theory and Laboratory

Prerequisites: GEG 2301 and permission of the Department.
