History Graduate Student Wins Honourable Mention at the American Society of Ethnohistory

One of our masters students, Hannah Roth Cooley, was awarded an honourable mention for the Helen Hornbeck Tanner Best Student Conference Paper Award at the annual conference of the American Society for Ethnohistory, held in Nashville in November 2016. Cooley's paper, titled “‘From the Old Comes the New’: Historical Memory, Nationalism, and Activism in 1970s Métis Popular Media” was described by conference organizers as a "finely argued and well-crafted essay".
