Prof. Brenda Macdougall (cross-appointed with the Department of Geography, Environment and Geomatics) has been elected to the Royal Society of Canada, College of New Scholars, Artists and Scientists.
This is how the RSC describes Dr. Macdougall's work:
Brenda Macdougall is the Chair of Metis Research at the University of Ottawa and is a leading expert on Metis and First Nations social and cultural history. In her outstanding research, she continually engages with Aboriginal communities, organizations and policy makers, informing evidence-based policy and legislation. Her research has been recognized by several awards, namely the Clio Prize for best book in the prairie division awarded by the Canadian Historical Association and the Excellence in Education and Research Award at the University of Ottawa.
