Prof. Chad Gaffield has been elected President-elect of the Royal Society of Canada.
Dr. Chad Gaffield holds the University Research Chair in Digital Scholarship at the University of Ottawa. He was first elected as a fellow of the Royal Society of Canada in 2005, he served as the president of the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council from 2006 until 2014. He is one of the most well-known and highly-respected scholars across the social sciences and humanities in Canada, and a tireless promoter and practitioner of digital tools in historical research. With his pioneering conceptual and methodological work, as well as his award-winning studies of the nineteenth and twentieth centuries, Gaffield has made, and continues to make, outstanding contributions to the furthering of knowledge of Canadian history.
