The DG of Environment and Climate Change Canada (ECCC) are starting a pilot project this summer. It aims to integrate climate and environmental datasets with different but related datasets found in other government departments - e.g. water pollutant data from Indigenous Affairs and GIS maps from Natural Resources Canada etc. Their aim is to "create data visuals using these [integrated] datasets to inform decision making and communicate science information..... We are hoping that we will be able to gain new insights which could help us develop effective policies and communication tools to deal with these issues".
They would like to hire 3 students for the summer to help with this project that have some experience in:
- The basic concepts of data integration
- The ability to create graphics & visuals involving multiple datasets and sources using various tools in geomatics/cartography and graphic design.
