This concert is possible through the artists residency of Musique 3 Femmes (November 27- December 1st).  This non-profit organization launched the "Mécénat Musica Prix 3 Femmes" last year, a 25K award supporting creation of operas by emerging female and female-identifying composers and librettists in Canada.

 

Student and alumni singers of the School of Music under the musical direction of Jennifer Szeto and the stage direction of Jessica Derventzis will be performing excerpts from the 5 winners' works of the 2018 Mécénat Musica Prix 3 Femmes :

  • L’hiver attend beaucoup de moi by Laurence Jobidon/Pascale St-Onge
  • Suites d'une ville morte by Margareta Jeric/Naima Phillips
  • Singing Only Softly by Cecilia Livingston/Monica Pearce
  • Book of Faces by Kendra Harder/Michelle Telford

  • 11 - 11:45 AM — Lecture/Musical Presentation: Canadian Art Song by Kerry-Anne Kutz from Art Song Project of Canada – Room 109
  • 2 - 4 PM — Lecture: Blocks: Tips and Techniques for Opera Creation by Maria Atallah and Laurence Jobidon – Room Creator Space
  • 12:30 - 8 PM — Workshopping of 5 mini operas – Room 109
