Justin Munger has been awarded the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council’s (SSHRC) 2019-2020 Joseph-Armand Bombardier Canadian Graduate Scholarship for his research proposal entitled “Understanding Maoist Revisions in Chinese Opera.” Justin has just recently completed his Honours Bachelor of Arts with Specialization in Music and Minor in Asian Studies. He is preparing to begin his Master of Arts in Music at the University of Ottawa this September 2019.

Congratulations to Zacharias Octavious, Alice Marsh, and Daniel Jacobsen for winning the first prize, second prize, and third prize, respectively, at the 2019 Chinese Speech Contest for Ottawa region university students, held on March 29 at Carlton University.

Congratulations to Nan Shi and Yu Lin for winning the first prize in Beginner Category and Intermediate Category, respectively, in the 30th Japanese Speech Contest in Ottawa, held at the Japan Information and Culture Centre of the Embassy on March 2, 2019.

Samuel Amoah was selected to represent the Ottawa region university students to compete at the 17th “Chinese Bridge” Chinese Proficiency Competition for Foreign College Students held in July 3~August 5, 2018 in Beijing and Changsha. Samuel is an Economics major and an Asian Studies minor.
