The students of MUS4928 (Advanced Research in Music) will be hosting a public exhibit of their research celebrating the life and work of Canadian composer R. Murray Schafer, entitled Écoutez/Listen. Their digital-archival projects focused on carrying out archival research in the R. Murray Schafer fonds at Library and Archives Canada in order to develop virtual exhibits about the composer’s unique ways of thinking about music, music education and the changing soundscape. The students sifted through Schafer’s manuscripts, uploaded and catalogued their findings in Omeka and used these items to create digital exhibits through the help of external plugins.
The students will present their projects on Thursday, April 13 in the Isobel Firestone Music Library (Pérez 302, 610 Cumberland Street) from 6:00-8:00 p.m.
Come and help us celebrate the work of this incredible Canadian composer!
