We received the very sad news that our dear friend and long-time donor Shelagh Williams passed away on May 7. Her impact on our students, along with that of her husband David, has been nothing short of remarkable. According to one of her scholarship recipients, rising star bass-baritone Joel Allison, “Words cannot express or describe the amount of support she and David had on me and so many other students at UOttawa. And I know their support is one of the reasons I got to the level that I have achieved so far.”
Shelagh and David’s contribution to the students has been so much more than a financial one – the Williams’s have made lasting relationships with their scholarship recipients over the years, attending their recitals and other performances and keeping in contact with them after graduation. In fact, travelling to another city to hear a former student perform was a common occurrence. We offer our very deepest condolences to her loving husband David and to their circle of family and friends who all share in mourning her passing.
As we learn more, we will share news of further services and/or celebrations of life.
