Part-Time Professor – Musicology
Tristan Paré-Morin holds a Ph.D. in Musicology from the University of Pennsylvania. He has taught musicology and music theory at the University of Pennsylvania and University of Ottawa. His work addresses the musical institutions and listening practices of nineteenth- and twentieth-century France and North America from the combined perspectives of musicology and nostalgia studies, with a particular attention to media and technologies, cultural politics, and cinema. His research on nostalgia in post-World War I Paris was funded by a Chateaubriand Fellowship in the Humanities and Social Sciences held in partnership with the Université Paris Sorbonne. Dr. Paré-Morin published chapters on music and nostalgia in English and French in edited volumes from the Presses Universitaires du Septentrion and from Peter Lang Publishing. He has presented at international conferences in Europe and in America, including at the American Musicological Society (AMS).
