Title: Portage: A Collaborative Research Data Management Network

Speaker: Martha Whitehead, University Librarian, Queen’s University

Speaker Biography: Martha Whitehead is Vice-Provost and University Librarian at Queens University.  She is President of the Canadian Association of Research Libraries (CARL) and has served as Vice-Chair and Chair of the Ontario Council of University Libraries (OCUL).

Ms. Whitehead completed her Master of Library Science at the University of British Columbia. Prior to assuming the role of Vice-Provost and University Librarian, she was the Associate University Librarian at Queen’s for six years. Before joining Queen’s, she held positions at the University of British Columbia Library, and was a visiting scholar at the University of Melbourne.


Portage is a national, library-based research data management network that contributes to the shared stewardship of research data and addresses gaps in the national research data management infrastructure in Canada. The aim of Portage is to coordinate and expand existing expertise, services, and infrastructure so that all academic researchers in Canada have access to the support they need for research data management.
