On November 22, the Chair of Arts Carmelle and Rémi-Marcoux of HEC Montréal, under the direction of François Colbert, presented the 2017 Cultural Manager's Award to Louise Allaire, former Director of Les Gros Becs Youth Theater, currently enrolled in the Theater Master's degree at the Faculty of Arts’ Theatre Department, University of Ottawa.
With A Bachelor's degree in theatre and a practical master in stage, Sariana Monette-Saillant works as manager and production manager for many theatre companies. During her studies, she founded le Théâtre de Dehors with her colleague Eric Perron and assumes the artistic co-direction.
Created in 1989, the John Hirsh prize honours a director from Ontario every other year. Born in Sudbury, the director, actress and author Miriam Cusson has founded and directed numerous companies including Productions Roches Brûlées (2009-2014).
The Ann Saddlemyer Award honours a monograph published during the past year that exemplifies the strength of theatre scholarship in Canada. The winner of the award for 2016 is Spike Milligan’s Accordion: The Distortion of Time and Space in The Goon Show by Rick Cousins.
