Benjamin Gaillard

The Department of Theatre is in mourning. Our friend Benjamin Gaillard died yesterday in a road accident that also killed his 10 years old son. Benjamin and his family were travelling in the United States on their way back from vacation. His wife Véronique and his daughter survived the accident and are currently in a Pennsylvania hospital. We do not fear for their lives.

A graduate of the Department, Benjamin was an actor and coordinator of programming at Théâtre Action. This Winter, he played with generosity and sensitivity the role of Hosanna by Michel Tremblay at the Théâtre de l’Île. Last April, he was in our home for the Festival Théâtre Action en milieu scolaire which we hosted in Séraphin-Marion.

His sudden disappearance leaves a great void in the Franco-Ontarian theatrical community. His contagious enthusiasm, boundless generosity, good nature and sense of humor will be deeply missed.

Our thoughts go to his family and to all his friends and colleagues. We offer them our sincerest sympathies. We wish them peace and courage in this difficult moment.

Goodbye Benjamin.
