This year, FIT has chosen “Finding the words for a world in crisis” as the theme for International Translation Day, and the School is proud to welcome (via Zoom) a number of guests who will be sharing their unique perspectives on the theme with us.
On October 1st, from 5 to 6:30 pm, we will welcome representatives of the Canadian federal government’s Translation Bureau, who will describe how the Interpreting and Terminology services have dealt with the challenges of the COVID-19 crisis.
On October 2nd at 10 am, the School is very pleased to welcome Sharon O’Brien, Professor of Translation Studies at Dublin City University, who will present a concept that is considered by some to have triggered a different kind of crisis in the language industry: artificial intelligence.
Join us for these unforgettable talks! (Please note that space is limited for Dr. O'Brien's talk on October 2.) Please confirm your attendance by September 29th at https://www.surveymonkey.ca/r/JMT-ITD-2020. You will receive the Zoom link by email before the session.
