Dr. Verushka Lieutenant-Duval received her Ph.D. from the Center for Interdisciplinary Studies in Society and Culture at Concordia University. Her specialization is the representation of sexual practices in the visual arts. Her thesis entitled Entre reconduction de la tradition et émancipation prétendument libératrice: la représentation des pratiques sexuelles véhiculée par le flot d'images diffusées en Occident durant la «Révolution sexuelle» examines the concordance between the different discourses on sexuality during the "Sexual Revolution" and the portrait of the sexual practices disseminated by the Western visual arts from the late 1950s to 1980. Dr. Lieutenant-Duval is currently working on the (non)representation of atypical breasts in Western visual culture.
